Thanks for the link, Angie. I respect the right of people to have feelings and opinions about the IDF that are different than my own. I do not know the organization in the link, but the problem with a lot of pro-Palestinian activism is that it seems to be more interested in lobbying against Israel than in helping Palestinians--but perhaps I do not know them well enough. Being in control of an occupied people is a tragic situation, and we need leaders who will find ways to serve the wish of the vast majority of people to live in peace. But in any situation, it is better that people are educated to speak and conduct themselves in a manner that respects the humanity of "the other." When we legitimize speaking about "the other" as an object, we have invited totalitarianism into the gates.
